Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will my dog be collected and dropped off?
Dogs are collected between 09.00-10.00am and dropped off home between 15.00-16.00pm. They travel out of town crate-free in our car. Dogs are secured by harness and seatbelt attachment. Dogs are accompanied by both walk ladies in transit meaning dogs are never left unattended in the car at pick up and drop off times. We ask that owners supply a set of keys or give us access to a lockbox.
-
How much does it cost and how many days do I need to book?
Adventure days are charged at £50 a dog, per day and you will be invoiced weekly to pay via bank transfer. Bookings are made on a termly basis with each term running for two months. Dogs then attend on the same day(s) every week. We will contact you with good notice before the new term starts to make any changes.
-
Where do you pick up from and where do you walk?
We collect dogs from Hampstead and the immediate surrounding area. Our route changes day to day depending on the group of dogs. We will always select the most enriching and fulfilling route for the pack in question. We walk in a variety of locations across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
-
Do you take unneutered dogs?
Unlike a lot of other daycares we do accept intact males following an assessment to ensure they are suited to a pack environment. We are not insured to walk bitches in heat.
-
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Payment is necessary for all booked days of term, this is due to the nature of our work and how unlikely it is that we will be able to fill a cancelled slot at short notice. If you feel the setup doesn’t suit your dog and wish to cancel your dog’s slots you can do so up to week two of term where payment for the remaining weeks will not be required.
-
Will you wash my dog on return?
We can only offer rinse downs for dogs who have outdoor washing facilities. We ask that owners leave out a towel that is easily accessible for their dog to be given a rub down. Please note that whilst we do our best to clean up your dog this is not equivalent to a full groom and suggest that you provide instructions for the walk ladies to leave your dog in a safe space such as a crate or somewhere with wipeable flooring.
-
What do you do in extreme weather?
We walk in all weathers, however, we occasionally have to alter our days in the event of extreme conditions for the safety of both our dogs and walk ladies. This may mean shifting the day earlier if experiencing hot temperatures that pose a threat to animal health.
-
Can you train my dog?
Although we work to reinforce basic obedience and can assist with your dog’s current training programme we are not a replacement for a trainer. Successful training requires consistency from both owner and walker with guidance from an appropriate trainer. Our partner Train With Georgi offers training walks where graduates are eligible to join adventure days.
-
How many dogs will you walk together?
Group size varies between six and eight dogs a day depending on level of training and compatibility. Dogs are always under the care of two walk ladies with extensive experience and training to ensure the group dynamics are balanced and everything runs smoothly. Dogs are encouraged to coexist and be neutral with one another as well as being given plenty of time for fun.
-
Do you give the dog's treats?
We use a variety of fresh meat and hypoallergenic kibble as reinforcement for good behaviours throughout the day. If your dog has specific dietary requirements or eats lunch we request that owners provide a packed lunch that is packaged and clearly labelled.
-
Do I need to supply anything?
Your dog is expected to have a correctly fitted collar with an up-to-date identification tag. Even if your dog is walked on harness, they must still be wearing a collar at all times. We use our own hygienic wipe-clean biothane leads and long lines. In winter we recommend the use of an Equafleece® or Hurtta Downpour Suit (for matting breeds) to help keep your dogs clean and warm. In hotter temperatures, we advise owners to supply their dogs with cooling vests and recommend the purchase of garments with added UV protection for pale coloured dogs.
-
Will I get updates throughout the day?
Your walk ladies will endeavour to provide you with ‘pupdates’ throughout your dog’s day. Please note that technical failure or exceptionally wet weather can sometimes prevent this, so it is not always guaranteed. We often post our pack’s antics onto our Instagram page which you can follow.
